Other Pursuits (#4) September 17

It’s the 1st October! Which means it time to have a look back at September. It has been a strange month because it’s felt never ending but at the same time, I can’t believe it’s Autumn already. I’ve noticed the shops getting their Christmas stuff out already so before we know it December will be upon us. Anyways this is what I got up to over the last month.

The Walking Dead

I’ve been nagging at my poor husband for months to give this show ago and finally we sat and watched the first episode at the beginning of the month. The result… I gave up after ep1.  It was so slow going, and I felt unnecessarily gory. It’s a zombie programme so I accept there has to be some gore also I love GoT so I’m pretty much used to watching stomach-churning scenes without even flinching, but there’s a part towards the end of the episode where there’s a shit ton of zombies eating horse intestines, I don’t need to see that I fully knew it was going to happen but I didn’t need to see them do it.

Grey’s Anatomy Rewatch

I’m still soldiering on with this rewatch. I’ve got to season 6 now. I never realized how much a missed George until this rewatch, he was never my favorite character but he did bring something that I don’t think anyone else really has. I can’t wait for Izzy to go through, she has started to get on my nerves a bit.

This is possibly the most f*#@ked up kid’s movie I have watched in a long time. I swear the person who wrote the script was on drugs at the time! Yeah, I don’t really know what else to say about it except is super weird!

I watched this a few weeks ago, and while I did enjoy it I felt the story lacked a little something. I think I had my expectations really high though because from the trailers it looked like it going to be a bit like the book Across the Universe (by Beth Revis, which is a brilliant trilogy) but apart from the waking up early element it was nothing really like it.

This was actually a pretty funny movie. My main beef is that it didn’t start with the epic Baywatch song! But its defiantly worth a watch, lots of action and lots of comedy. The Rock and Zac Efron were hilarious together!

Other things-2

Goodwood Revival

I went to Goodwood Revival at the beginning of this month. and if you don’t know what that is here’s a little explanation from Wiki:

“The Goodwood Revival is a three-day festival held each September at Goodwood Circuit since 1998 for the types of road racing cars and motorcycles that would have competed during the circuit’s original period—1948–1966”

I attend this event not just for the cars (I prefer the modern cars or classic American muscle cars) but for the clothing, everyone dresses up in clothing from the 1940s to 1960s. It was a fun day but very knackering I did around 7 miles of walking around.

New Sofa

I finally (we had to wait 12 weeks for delivery)  took delivery of our new sofa this month. It’s a leather electric recliner. I love it and hate it. It’s very comfy and has the added surprise of USB ports on the side but I do miss the size and coziness of my old fabric corner sofa.

Signed Book

To finish off this post, some book fun. My signed copy of If There’s No Tomorrow came on Friday! It’s so pretty I love it:

Until Next Time! 🤓

Other Pursuits (#3) August 17

Hello and welcome to my monthly round up!

Game of Thrones – Season 7

Season 7.png

I can’t believe it’s over…. This season was so good!

Highlights for me:

  • Arya getting to the Frey’s
  • The Dany & Jon meeting
  • Olenna – “Tell Cersei. I want her to know it was me.”
  • The Stark Family Reunion
  • Grey Worm & Missandei
  • Dany raining Dragon Fire down on the Lannister army!
  • Davos tracking down Gendry and cracking a joke about rowing
  • Arya & Brienne sparring
  • The Hound – I just love every scene this guy is in!
  • The Littlefinger take down: “You stand accused of murder, you stand accused of treason. How do you answer these charges … Lord Baelish?”
  • The L+R Revelation

I could list more, it feels endless so much epic stuff happened! The satisfaction of the Littlefinger take down is immense I literally squealed when Sansa delivered that line! And now the long wait for season 8 begins!

 Grey’s Anatomy the Re- Watch

I touched on this last month, so I thought I’d update you on where I’m at with this. I’ve made it to Season 4, and I’m not enjoying this season at all. Before I began this rewatch I was McDreamy fan but I have to say I really hating on Derek at the moment. He is such as ass to Meredith, giving her ultimatums and rushing her into settling down. As Izzy would say, “Seriously?” One last thing, I love Mark, I really wish they hadn’t killed him off.

The Originals Season 4

The O.png

Netflix finally added season 4 a couple of weeks ago. I’m only up to episode 4 but I’m not loving the theme so far, which I’m fairly annoyed about because I really like this show and last season was totally kick ass. I am enjoying watching Klaus getting to know Hope and of course, anytime Elijah in screen is good times. Freya & Marcel are annoying the ever loving crap out of me though.

Guardians go the Galaxy Vol 2

I have very mixed feelings about this movie, there are some really great scenes and I’m a huge Groot fan, but I did feel slightly underwhelmed by the whole thing. I don’t know I think I just had really high expectations because I loved the first movie so much.

Lego Batman

I actually went to the cinema to see this when it came out, it’s so funny! I like how that although this is a kids movie, there is lots of adult humor. All in all its just a lot of silly fun so if you’re looking for a funny movie to watch I recommend this one.

Ah Logan, this movie destroyed me! I really wasn’t prepared at all. If you’ve not watched it yet then I advise you have chocolate and tissues nearby because your gonna need them.

Other things-2

Last week I had a couple of days off work, and during that time I went and got my first book related tattoo. As you probably know (if you have been following my blog for awhile) I’m a huge Sarah J.Maas fan and I particularly love the A Court of Thornes & Roses Series, so I present to you my take on the Night Court Sigil:

It’s still all red and swollen in this pic because it was taken right after I had it done, once its finished healing I’ll post an updated photo. a

Apart from that August has been low-key. As it’s the summer holidays I tend to stay in doors away from all the screaming kids that tend to be on the loose at this time of year.

That’s it from me today. Have a great weekend y’all!

Other Pursuits (#2) July 2017

July has been a fairly quiet month for me. I’ve worked the whole of it so it’s not been that exciting at all.

Game of Thrones

My name is Tracey and I’m a Game of Thrones addict! I started watching GoT last year. I and my hubby binged watched the first 5 seasons over a couple of weeks so that we could catch up to season 6 and thus my addiction began! The year long wait for season 7 has been painful! So, when July 17th rolled around I was super excited and the opening episode did not disappoint!  Best opening episode ever!

I’m sure I’ll have more to say next month at the end of August because it will be near enough finished again by then (BOOO!)

Grey’s Anatomy Re-Watch

Because summer tends to be slow on the TV front and because I haven’t found anything else to get into yet, I started re-watching Grey’s Anatomy from the beginning! This is the second time I’ve done this but the first time in like 2-3 years if that makes sense?

Anyway, I’m halfway through season 2 at the moment. The thing I love about re-watching a TV show is that you notice different things, for me this time its how bloody annoying and self-righteous Burke is, I mean I noticed the arrogance before but for some reason if feels more pronounced.

John Wick 2

I love the first John Wick film, but this one kind a lacked something – I think it might have been the case where I set my expectations really high and the film just didn’t meet them. It wasn’t all bad and Keanu Reeves was once again excellent. I’ve loved him since I watched him The Matrix back in 1999.

Secret life of pets

I don’t have a lot to say about this one, except that they showed all the good parts in the trailers, the actual movie itself wasn’t that great.

Bridget Jone’s Baby

Ok, so I’m not a Bridget Jones fan…. She actually annoys the ever loving crap out of me. The main reason I watched this was because Patrick Dempsy is in it (McDreamy) so it’s not really that much of a shock to me that I didn’t enjoy it.

I really enjoyed this, in that I enjoyed the animation. It was just beautiful! The vast vivid colors and the rendering of the ocean was just phenomenal! Also, the Rock as Maui was genius! He was so so funny.

Other things-2

I’ve really not done much else. Mostly just blogging and spending time in the garden with my two favorites, my husband, and my cat:

I think that’s it.

Until next time 🤓

Other Pursuits (#1)

Welcome to my first “Other Pursuits” Post. In these posts, I will be looking back at what else I have been up to over the past month apart from reading.

I randomly found GIRLBOSS on Netflix while was browsing for something new to watch. It’s loosely based on Sophia Amoruso’s Autobiography #Girlboss which tells the story of how Sophia started her company, Nasty Gal. I’m totally hooked I think I binged the first 8 episodes in one sitting. It’s so good. I’m not normally into Autobiography’s but I’ve added this one to my TBR list.

The Vampire Diaries Finale

In the beginning, I really loved the Vampire Diaries. Mainly because of Damon! (seriously is there anyone who doesn’t love that guy?) but I think it should have ended a few seasons ago and the Final episode just proved this for me, it was so overdone and wholly disappointing. I was really hoping we’d have an epic explosion in which Mystic Falls disappeared. But no, Stephen died! How could they do that to Caroline?! And Elena’s reappearance was to be blunt total rubbish and anticlimactic.

I don’t know maybe I should try and read the books again.. are they any good?

Grey’s Anatomy Season Final

I’ve been a Grey’s fan since the first episode aired back in 2005 so I’ve experienced the 12 other gut-wrenching season finales from this show. This one wasn’t the best.

The good:

I really liked how Meredith dealt with reappearance of Nathan’s fiancé (who everyone thought had died years ago) she was so selfless, celebrating with him and telling him to go see her because “if it was Derek, I’d already be gone”

Finally, Dr. Minnick is gone – Jeez that women annoyed me!

The Bad:

No proper closer with the whole Alex and Jo storyline. Although I could see this coming to a few episodes back, the whole Jackson/Maggie thing. I’m not sure how I feel about it but I’m looking forward to seeing more in the next season.

Pretty Little Liars Finale

Oh, gods, I don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed with a season finale. If I’m honest though I shouldn’t have been surprised because the whole build up to it has been pretty mediocre! The A.D revel was a huge let down! I mean an evil twin how cliché!  There were also a lot of parts I just didn’t understand, why did Caleb suddenly hate Mona? Why did Alex kidnap Ezra? And how come Emily’s babies were white and very blonde?

The only good things that happened was that Aria and Ezra finally got married and Mona finally won the game back!
