Let’s Talk (#7) – Rating Systems

When I write a review, I liked to give each book a rating out of 5. I like to think that this system is straight forward and easy to understand.

I have a brief explanation for each rating on my Review policy but I thought I’d take you through each one a little bit more in depth, with a little help from Dean Winchester!

🌟 1 STAR  – This is the lowest mark  I give a book. Although there are times where I have wanted to give a 0 I try not to. So, what does 1/5 really mean? Well to put it simply: I didn’t like your book. It wasn’t to my taste, it made me roll my eyes and it just wasn’t for me, I wouldn’t recommend! Yadda, yadda, yadda I think you get me point.

🌟🌟 2 STARS – Only slightly better than then a 1/5. Usually, means that I didn’t completely hate the story, but there was probably something that ticked me off.

2

🌟🌟🌟 3 STARS – This is what I was when a book was just OK. It’s probably an entertaining and enjoyable read but nothing to really shout about.

🌟🌟🌟🌟 4 STARS – This is awarded to books that I have enjoyed a lot. Books that get these marks because although I’ve enjoyed 95% of the story something about them doesn’t make the 5/5 mark. For example, if the story is really good but the writing style is a bit meh or if the ending of a book was a bit wtf but the rest of it was amazing then yeah I’ll usually give it this rating. Some of these books also make my recommended reading list

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5 STARS – DING DING DING!! JACKPOT BABY!! If I give a book 5/5 it’s because its blown my mind with it’s epicenes!!

5.1

5 Star rating books don’t happen that much, but when the do it’s the best. I will usually promote and rave on social media too, as well as adding to my recommended reading list. I usually recommend these books on the many Facebook groups that I’m member of.

And there you have it a low down on my rating system. Hopefully this has been somewhat of an entertain reading.
