Blurb:

I crawled into Ryan Jensen’s bed that first night by accident.

I barely knew him. I thought it was his sister’s bed—her room. It took seconds to realize my error, and I should’ve left…

I didn’t.

I didn’t jump out.

I didn’t get embarrassed.

I relaxed.

And that night, in that moment, it was the only thing I craved.

I asked to stay. He let me, and I slept.

The truth? I never wanted to leave his bed. If I could’ve stayed forever, I would have.

He became my sanctuary.

Because—four hours earlier—my twin sister killed herself.

[Book Review] Man Hands by Sarina Bowen & Tanya Eby

Synopsis

He puts the “screw” in screwball comedy…

BRYNN

At thirty-four, I’m reeling from a divorce. I don’t want to party or try to move on. I just want to stay home and post a new recipe on my blog: Brynn’s Dips and Balls.

But my friends aren’t having it. Get out there again, they say. It will be fun, they say. I’m still taking a hard pass.

Free designer cocktails, they say. And that’s a game-changer.

Too bad my ex shows up with his new arm candy. That’s when I lose my mind. But when my besties dare me to leap on the first single man I see, they don’t expect me to actually go through with it.

TOM

All I need right now is some peace and quiet while my home renovation TV show is on hiatus. But when a curvy woman in a red wrap dress charges me like she’s a gymnast about to mount my high bar, all I can do is brace myself and catch her. What follows is the hottest experience of my adult life.

I want a repeat, but my flying Cinderella disappears immediately afterward. She doesn’t leave a glass slipper, either—just a pair of panties with chocolate bunnies printed on them.

But I will find her.

Review

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for honest review.

Brynn is recently divorced and trying to get back in the saddle which is why she ends up a party she doesn’t really want to be attending. It’s at this party that she bumps into her ex-husband with a younger thinner model on his arm. This pushes Brynn to do something totally drastic and out of character – throw herself (literally) at the first man that she sees and this happens to be Tom.

This was a pretty short book and but boy did it have a lot of story! It felt like a full-length novel. I really enjoyed the story. It was so funny and heartfelt. Brynn’ quirkiness and humor really gave this story a good punch of comedy. Tom is a semi-famous TV personality who is on a break from filming his home renovation show, I really liked how down to earth and easy going he was. The chemistry between these two is sizzling, to say the least.

This book is told in the first person from both the perspectives of Brynn and Tom.

If you looking for a short light-hearted romantic read then look no further.

1 Year Blogiversary!

Hey everyone, 1 year ago today I started my blog! It honestly feels a lot longer though. Today I’m taking a look back at what has happened over the past year:

1 . What I have I learned:

Blogging is hard work! I never realized just how time-consuming having a blog would be until I started but it is very rewarding. I have really enjoyed learning lots of new things. Creating my own content and just making my blog look how I want it to look, which was a huge challenge at first, mainly because I was so indecisive and I didn’t really know how to make it look how I wanted it to look. Grasping the use of WordPress has helped me to get my blog looking just like I want it to.

2. Biggest Challenge I have faced:

Time management, I’m not an organized person by nature so I have to really work at making time to sit and write my posts. I’ve also really had cut back recently in terms of the amount I was posting because it was just too much with everything else I have going on in my life at the moment.

3. My Favorite Post:

This has to the piece I wrote about Tamlin from (A Court of Thorns and Roses) it’s the only time I’ve done a real in-depth character analysis as such and it was so interesting to really get inside his head and share my thoughts. I really hope to do a follow-up piece next year, I really want to write a Tamlin/Rhyand comparison!

Stats

1 year stats

Goals for Next Year:

  1. Be more active on Social Media
  2. Coming up with a proper schedule and sticking it to
  3. Create new and engaging content
  4. Keep a good posting pace and not stress about posting enough
  5. Keep having Fun!

Until Next Time! 🤓

Review

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for honest review.

Emma Jane runs out on her wedding day, thinking that her husband to be, doesn’t really love her. Emma leaves town and spends the next few years working at an advertising firm and trying to forget about the man she left at the altar, which has been going well until he walks back into her life and takes over running the company she is working at.

I really enjoyed this story it was engaging and entertaining. The story is told in the first person from the dual perspectives of Knox and Emma Jane.

I liked both the main characters. I thought each of their experiences was intriguing. I felt the hurt and confusion from Knox, who I had trouble picturing as someone who would walk out on someone he loves, his character just seemed to genuine to do something like that.

I also had empathy for Emma Jane. It was obvious that she truly thought Knox had done wrong by her.

Overall this was a good read, it captured my attention and kept me hanging on to the very end.

Blogging Break Plus Scheduling Changes

Hi lovely followers,

I just wanted to give you a little update. I’ve decided to cut back a bit and take a break from blogging for a little while. I have had a hard time recently in finding my usual drive to write so it just makes sense to take some time and recharge – hence why I haven’t posted so much recently

I won’t be disappearing completely as I’ll still be posting a few reviews here and there but my regular weekly posts will be taking a bit of a back seat.  I’ll also be starting a full-time job in December so I really need to take some time to do some serious planning!

I think that’s all I need to say for now. I’ll post another update when I have made some solid decisions about going forward!

Until Next Time 🤓

IT ENDS WITH US – Colleen Hoover

Synopsis

SOMETIMES THE ONE WHO LOVES YOU IS THE ONE WHO HURTS YOU THE MOST

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up – she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, and maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily, but Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan – her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.

This book contains graphic scenes and very sensitive subject matter.

Review

This book has made me feel annoyed and depressed, no, it just pissed me off!

I grew up in a similar situation to Lilly so I know what it’s like witnessing your parenting getting abused and wishing like hell that they would leave. I completely understand teenage Lily, adult lily not so much.

To be blunt adult Lily is naïve and stupid. Who their right fucking mind decides that getting with a guy who says that they want to fuck you within the first 10 minutes is a good idea? This same guy has major commitment issues and is beating up a freaking garden chair. Hello, why weren’t your alarm bells ringing then? if that wasn’t bad enough a few weeks later he comes to her apartment and begs her for sex… seriously? The fact is that Lily does know what a good relationship looks like because she had one with Atlas! sure they were young and they didn’t do any of the traditional dating type stuff but he did treat her properly.

The fact is that Lily does know what a good relationship looks like because she had one with Atlas! sure they were young and they didn’t do any of the traditional dating type stuff but he did treat her properly.

I’m also seething about Ryles character, he has all the classic charming perpetrator traits but after the first incident where he hurts Lily he tells her he as an anger disorder that stems from childhood. I can only assume that he has IED (Intermittent Explosive Disorder) and that’s why he loses his temper, he then begs her to not leave and to help him. Which she buys hook line and sinker. I’m sorry but I’m not buying it,  I think that this was all part of his manipulation to get Lily to stay with him. I read another book (can’t remember the name of it) but the male protagonist had IED and he was nothing like Ryle, one he took responsibility for his actions and went and got help. What pissed me off the most is that it is never addressed in the book that he is using this as a manipulation tactic, so it just becomes a justification of why he’s abusive, when really it would have been more beneficial to readers to know that actually this is just another trait of a perpetrator.

I think this book could have been more, I thought it was a very cliché story of abuse. As it portrays a somewhat typical case of physical abuse but it doesn’t go into any depth about the emotional abuse. I feel that Lily we very emotionally manipulated by Ryle but the author never addresses this and that is one of the biggest let downs of the whole book. This books whole thing is that each person’s experience of abuse is different but Colleen Hoover has managed to tell the most cliché version of it you can think of. This book didn’t leave me feeling empowered or hopeful it just left a really bad taste.

Review

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for honest review.

Eden and Josh are best friends, Josh is still a virgin and decides that he needs to lose this by the end of senior year. He asks Eden to help him find a girl to do the deed with. But as the search goes on, they both start to question if the person they are looking for is closer than they think.

This story is written in the first person from both perspectives of Josh & Eden

Books like this one are the reason I love YA so much, the story was a great blend of romance, angst and the realization that what you think you want is always what you really want.

I thought the story was entertaining and flowed well. I enjoyed both the main characters. Josh and Eden are your typical teenage best friends, I thought their chemistry was great. The entire time I was reading this book I felt like it could be a really great teen movie, it reminded me of the classics from the 90s.

The Bottom Line:

This was a great story. If you love YA then I would recommend this book to you.
